We started PetBiz Focus because we are not only passionate about pets and the pet industry, but because we are particularly passionate about good clear communications.

This can be boss to subordinates, worker to co-worker, staff to client/customer or 3rd party suppliers etc.

More than 10 years ago after getting involved in the pet industry ourselves we realised that a lot of people in the Aussie pet and vet sector have issues with the basics of communicating not only what they want, but who they are.

Coming from a background of more than 30 years in the 'communications' business working in commercial radio and TV here and in the UK, USA, Spain and elsewhere we've managed to pick up a few 'tips'.

Kaye Browne is an award winning journalist, former Today Tonight reporter and radio/TV newsreader and television Series Producer for Aussie TV Channels 7 & 9 and the ABC, Kaye writes for various pet and veterinary related publications. She also lectures from time to time in Journalism and Communications and runs seminars on communications for small and large businesses. 

With her 'velvet voice' she's often asked 'how can I sound like that?' - but Kaye stresses that sounding good is only a small part of the way we communicate well. Kaye also has her own 'blog' - www.kayebrowne.com 

Brian Pickering (Kaye's business partner and husband) is a long-time AM/FM commercial radio producer/copywriter in AU, television Post Production Supervisor in USA,  Network 7 AU and BBC UK/Spain and UK/Spain music recording engineer who's specialty is in 'making people sound good'.

Again this is not so much the 'dulcet tone' aspect of sound but in helping frame aspects of what is to be said in such a way that it makes sense to the listener.

Brian admits to having the attention span of a 'gnat' so whatever is being communicated - advertisement, documentary, eBook or even a general conversation - needs to have enough elements to hold interest. 

Armed with this 'defect' he say's has helped him understand what goes into making good communications.

Both Brian & Kaye are also accomplished public speakers and regularly MC local council pet events and more.

The PetBiz Focus website is an easy to use FREE resource of how-to information in text, podcasts and the occasional video and other tools to help you communicate better and ultimately grow your business skills and overall confidence.
